Art Concepts and Terminology- Allison Gray

What is new learning?
I have learned a lot. I have not taken an art class since middle school. I really did not remember learning about space. The positive and negative space, but especially foreground, middle ground and background to show depth. The foreground is the objects in the front or bottom of the painting. The middle ground is the objects in the middle of the painting. The background is found at the top of the painting.

What is review?
It was not reviewing colors and the words associated with color. Value is the lightness and darkness of a color.

How can I apply these concepts in my classroom?
I will teach second grade next year. Some of these terms in art are also important in math and reading. I talk a lot about contrast of different elements of a story or two texts on the same topic. Take this idea and build on the vocabulary. The students could draw the differences in one picture. Then expand this concept to art to help students understand and remember the term.

I love how you said that the students can use these terms in math.  It is important for the students to see that everything is related.
