As an elementary teacher, I feel it is absolutely imperative to start teaching our students these lessons as early as possible. Our homes are infiltrated with the internet and we need to take responsibility in teaching our children safety regarding the digital world. So often I hear of some of my littles wanting Facebook or Instagram accounts without so much as realizing the digital footprint they will leave behind. They have no fear of opening the digital door to predators. Our children often look to the internet as a fun space to connect with their friends and family. We need to have the conversations regarding privacy and safety. The internet is a fantastic resource, but it is our job to teach them how to use it safely and effectively.
