DC Internet Safety

Becky Gardner
Students enjoy posting the "most recent developments" in their busy lives.  They often reveal too much where they are going where they have been and who they are with.  It is easy for strangers to access our children through various social media sites.  The other day someone sent my son a message on Instagram ( I thought Instagram was for posting pictures and not messaging). The person was contacting my son on behalf of an individual that my son is not particularly fond of and it was quite unsettling.  The person who sent the message does not even know of my son and my son does not know this person either. The person was able to "look up" my son and then messaged him.  We as parents must be vigilant when it comes to our children and the internet.
