I use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I have made certain that all my settings are set to private and that only my friends or followers can see what I have posted. I am also sure to only accept followers that I know. I actually use my Twitter account for classroom communication with parents. The only followers I accept are parents/ guardians of the current school year students. I have used this as a good way to discuss Internet safety with my students.
