The social network I checked was my Facebook account. Most settings were as I left them. There were a few that were set on Everyone could comment on posts and my Phone was available to those who search for it (not a good plan). I changed what I needed and feel safer. There are, what seems like a million, security settings, but if one simply takes the time, you can actually make yourself very safe.
