DC Intro: Digital Citizenship

Kevin Vickery
in the days of the 70's I took a civics class that taught me how to interact with the people I would meet in my community.  Today, my community is the entire world and it is going 24/7.  Several years ago, I asked my son about one of his "Friends" on facebook.  He told me he had never met this person and was actually a friend of a friend.  It was then that I realized in this new world, even the word friend had a new meaning.

We must be diligent because there are so many ways in which our students can be at risk of preditory behaviors of others through the internet.

I totally agree.  I am even more concerned now that I am a grandparent.  This social media was all just in its infancy when my kids were growing up.  I still don't believe they are totally wise to the evil possibilities that lurk out there in the cyber world.
