DC Intro: Norms and responsibilities

David Mohr
The digital world is a place that mirrors the reality of literal society constructs and actions. This digital landscape comes with all the gains, learning experiences, wonder, confusion, crime, and commentary as does the real world.
As such, an individual should have rights and responsibilities in accordance to their "life" on a digital spectrum. Privacy, free speech, and security should be the understanding for all users, however as online personas have a "mask" of not being a physical reality, that is sadly not always the case.
A breech of privacy or content can be stolen, a blatant hate crime is more easily said, a threat and many other occurrences present themselves at alarming rates.
Therefore, it is essential that users exhibit, or take to learning, responsibilities as a member of the digital world.  How to protect oneself and ones privacy, how to conduct oneself in online forums, giving credit or asking to use provided information/art/studies etc. are all part of a successful online society.
