DC: Rights and Responsibilities

Amy McGuire
It is crucial that beginning with parents and reinforced by educators that we teach our children/students the importance of digital citizenship. I am a firm believer that our children need constant reminders about the power that most of them walk around with in their hand on their smart phones. I have shared with them several examples of unnecessary misunderstandings due to a "post", "tweet",  text and/or email.

As a high school English teacher, we are always discussing tone of a literary piece. Tone can be misinterpreted through a text or email easily, use of all caps, use of an exclamation point. Digital citizenship must be a constant conversation.
