DC digital literacy - resource

Jenifer Leiding Rieck
I have used the resource
https://www.commonsensemedia.org/videos/using-critical-thinking-to-find-trustworthy-sources

to direct students to find sources for their research on topics that are credible.  Too often students will just "Google" to find sources and are not discriminating consumers of those sources.  We discuss that if you go into a library, you would check sources and determine if they are usable, reliable, peer-reviewed, etc....the digital world is the same but there is far more junk out there and just because it's posted doesn't mean that it is reliable.  I even caution the use of wikipedia even though that is a good jump off point.  I would much prefer they use the AEA online resources such as Brittanica.
