DIGITAL LITERACY

Sara M
In each of these sections, I was able to find a resource that would help in many lessons I have in my english classes.
Communication is easily enhanced with the use of Today's Meet for general questions, comments, and suggestions when you meet for an hour, a week or more. It keeps the conversation and high order learning alive and continuous.
Padlet is a great collaboration site that allows for my classes to brainstorm ideas, create timelines, and specifically in my middle school sections, I use it to help the kids identify sections on the plot diagram with examples from certain texts they are reading.
Each of these sites would be a great learning tool but the ones that cost money are a little more difficult to use.  I explored Photo Peach but it seems that it is really a glorified iMovie.  Garage Band would be great for differentiated instruction.
Critical thinking can be accomplished by using Scratch and giving students the opportunity to apply cause and effect, higher order thinking, and applying skills for real results.  It engages the students of any age.
To organize in an efficient manner, my yearbook class used Pinterest to bring ideas together for a theme this year.  It gave us a great opportunity to see what options were out there and let our creativity shine.
