Digital Citizenship Internet Safety

mweaverling
I use Facebook and Instagram, and have not updated my privacy settings for a while.  I went in to explore the options, and have determined that they can remain the same.  I do not post items often, but I don't want anyone but friends to be able to see my posts.  I did change the settings that I need to be notified if I want to post a picture that I am tagged in.  I did spend some time exploring where they obtain data that is used to target advertising.  Was hoping there was an option to turn it off altogether.  No dice.  I do think that Facebook spies on the conversations I have on my phone, and I didn't see anywhere that was mentioned.  I say this because recently my daughter was engaged, and I have not posted it anywhere, nor has she or her fiance.  I am suddenly getting pop up ads for mother of the bride dresses and pinterest ideas for weddings.  Very strange since I have not searched for anything wedding related.
