Digital Citizenship

Stephanie Mugge
Reading the posts of other Educators as only affirmed my opinion on this topic.  Teaching and modeling Digital Citizenship should be a responsibility and priority of every Educator, Administrator, and Para-professional.  If one of our student or one of our own children had a important scholarship dinner we wouldn't send them without reminding them of the proper table manners (no elbows on the table, napkin in your lap, chew with a closed mouth etec.). So why the are we not just as diligent before an important assignment?  I think sometimes it is inadvertently overlooked or maybe even assumed that it is material they are learning in another discipline.  If we take a proactive approach rather than reactive, and create a culture and expectation of citizenship and conscientiousness in our schools it will extend beyond the classroom and ultimately help to prepare our students for adulthood.
