Digital Literacy Resources

Jill A Trainum
Communication-I explored Educreations.  It can be used on a laptop or ipad.  Educreations was designed to be an interactive whiteboard/screencasting too.   I looked through it and found it pretty easy to use.  I could see having a small group of first graders viewing and interacting with it while I’m teaching another group.  It would almost be like cloning me a bit!

Collaboration-I explored more in Google Drive with students in mind.  I use it a lot for me, but have really never thought about having the kids collaborate with it.  It’s so easy to use.  I could see having them write and illustrate ( or add images) to create a book collaboratively.

Creativity - I looked at Crayola Color Alive for the ipad.  I have 6 ipads in my first grade room, so I’m trying to find good apps. Very cool!   Kids could create along or with a partner and then write about it.

Critical Thinking-I explored Ideament.  I’ve never heard of it but I really think it looks useful for so many different curriculum areas.  It lets you easily make diagrams, word or idea webs, charts…

Organization-Flikr   I looked at a used (a bit) Flikr years ago but had kind of forgotten about it.   It looks like a really easy way to organize photos and videos.  I can see this be useful for me personally, professionally, and for the kids to use.
