Digital Resource Sharing

Ben Walters
Google Drive is an excellent organizational tool for documents, presentations, multi-media, Google Forms, and more.  Additionally it offers great opportunities for real-time collaboration.  In the classroom, it could be used to collect student work electronically.

Google Drive is also helpful when students are collaborating on an article, and they can work from different locations.

I really like the concept of Google Drive as well.  I am all for any tool that helps with organization as well as collaboration.  This changes the way students work, as well as alleviates some of the stresses that can go with an occasionally forgetful brain.  No more losing assignments or forgetting things in their locker.  Access is always available.

Ben,
Since our district started with Google Drive, I have seen many neat things, including once when a student ill at home was able to work on a document with his peers who were at school at the same time, so he was still able to input his ideas to the group project, even though he was absent.  It was pretty neat to see it happening in action!

I also like Google Drive. Our school has one-to-one devices so all the students have access to this platform.

I completely agree with what is being said about Google Drive. It is great to have all your files in one location which can then easily be shared with others. I have used Google Forms with students in the classroom and it cuts down on the paper copies of permission forms and such. Only draw back I have ever had is when working in China where Google is blocked.

I have also had a ton of success in communicating with students using Google Drive. Not only can I communicate easily with special education students in a mainstream English class without calling so much attention to their deficiencies with writing, but it allows them to stay organized and in touch with me whenever they need me. No more issues with "I was typing my paper on a Word document, then forgot to save", or similar excuses since Google has the autosave feature. :)

Your idea about being able to connect with them when they are out sick/home is something I hadn't touched much on before - thanks for the idea!

I like the idea of handing in assignments via Google Drive. It would make things very organized and easily accessible. It would also make it easier for the teacher to take home to grade instead of taking home a pile of papers.
