Digital resource: Google Classroom

Sara Swanson
Google Classroom is a very valuable piece of my classroom process.  Students use it to keep in touch with what is going on in the classroom when they are absent.  I use it for giving extra information on upcoming tests.  I use it for daily announcements.  Students in my class write in their "journals" from time to time.  This is the place I write my prompts.  From time to time this is where students write in response to others in the class and make their own comments on various prompts from time to time.  I use it to teach a type of digital etiquette as well.

I also use several of the other options on this site such as prezi, symbaloo, quizlet and kahoot.  They are all excellent for various tasks and the students are adept at using them as well.  I like using sites that are easily navigated by all types of learners.

What Sara does using Google Tools in her classroom seems very valuable. What a great way to help students stay on task and feel connected to each other and to the teacher. I wonder how many minutes it adds to the day's workload for Sara?

I am very interested in Google Classroom. Did you learn to use it as a district/building/grade team/ or on your own. D you have any recommendations on how to get started?

I have never tried Google classroom but I am in charge of putting out our daily announcements and think that might be the way to go.

I am unfamiliar with Google classroom but I'm very intrigued on how this would work.  I think regarding to cyberbullying and other personal issues kids go through this is a great way to interact with kids on their level.

As a substitute, the Google tools would be very helpful for the teacher to help me understand what is expected of me the days I am in their classroom.
