Ellen Carey - Digital Citizenship

Ellen Carey
Technology is such a huge part of many people's lives.  However, it is very important to understand that you can't just do and say whatever you want.  I think that some people believe that if it is on their computer then they can do whatever they want.   I am fortunate enough to work in a school district that is one to one.  Many of our students think that the computer they use for school use is "theres".  We often talk about how what they do on their computer can be viewed by others.  We also spend time discussing how important it is that they are not bullying and that things that they post on social media is kind and positive.  This is a good time for us to discuss if you wouldn't say or do something to your parents or grandparents, they you wouldn't want to do or say it online.  We also spend time discussing how important it is that they don't share passwords with friends.
