Facebook in Schools

Perry Bekkerus
I remember a time when Facebook was frowned upon by administrators and parents alike.  Now it has become so mainstream that students don't use it very often--always on to other things, as is befitting youth.  I belong to different groups of family, which is great considering that so many of my siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins are so spread out over the entire country.  It's like a Christmas letter except it happens every day.  Professionally, I belong to the Iowa Choral Director's Association (ICDA), have many teacher friends from around the state, and I also belong to many music-related groups.  Facebook has also made it a cinch to communicate with parents about just about anything.
