Financial Literacy and Transition By Patricia Mills

P. Mills
I work with secondary special education students and working on a transition plan (their individual plan for the future after high school) is a large part of their IEP.  Financial literacy is a big part of this transition process.  Students are given assessments (both formal and informal) throughout the school year.  Using these assessments, I can work with students on the parts of Financial Literacy that they need help on.  Examples of assessment questions might include: Do you have a checking or savings account? Do you know how to write a check?  From these assessment I can then create lesson plans to help support that student and better prepare them for the future.
Taking this class will give me more ideas and resources to help support my students and their future goals.
