Financial Literacy at home and school

Amy Koestner
I am a substitute teacher.  Financial literacy is pivotal to student success in their daily life.  It needs to be taught throughout all levels of education.  I also feel it needs to be reinforced at home.  Many students today use debit or credit cards with ease, but hand them a checkbook, and they are lost.  When I was a teacher, I like to do simulation activities with my middle school students.  We would invest in the stock market.  We would determine our budget based on what job we had, etc.  I'm curious as to what this course encourages teachers to do.

I have taught my young daughters the value of money their entire life. I try to add information about the value of money when ever I teach.
