Financial Literacy in Language Arts

Chris Bowcutt
I teach Language Arts to grades 7, 11, & 12. I remember as a student this kind of class was available as an elective, and I—like most students—chose not to take it, a decision I now regret. I think my own financial literacy is pretty good, but it is knowledge that I cobbled together over the years, often through trial and error.

I imagine there are many opportunities for students to connect financial literacy content to their writing and speaking skills. Journaling about the future, for example, could be connected to financial goals.
