Financial Literacy in PE

Chris Pighetti
While it may better fall under the coverage of a core skill, financial literacy in PE could revolve around nutrition and training.  How much do you spend on a normal purchase of groceries?  Now if we follow nutrition guidelines and buy the food you should be eating, does your groceries budget change?  Is it better to buy bulk from Costco?  How can you cook to make your dollar stretch?

Is there cost effectiveness in purchasing a FitBit?  Did it get you to exercise more?  Should you pay to join a gym?  What about forking it up for a personal trainer?

It's always a struggle to adapt PE to a common core skill or practice, but with thinking and innovation, it can be worth it.

Think those are all excellent teaching points for financial literacy in PE. My first thought taking it a step further was the cost of eating healthy and how it may cost more initially but could end of saving in the long term but avoiding some health risks associated with not eating well.
