Financial Literacy in my Middle School Math Class

I am looking for engaging and current ways to implement and more than anything make kids aware of financial literacy.  It seems they have such disregard at  the middle school level for the expenses incurred by phones, etc. and their effects on family finances.  I work in a low income community, so this topic may be hard for many of my students to understand.
