Financial Literacy

Michelle Mulfinger
I teach fourth grade and money is confusing for all people no matter what age. I think one of the best ways to teach fourth graders financial literacy is to have a classroom economy. Students could earn money by "working" coming to school every day and they could earn "bonus'" by doing extra work, being a good friend, helping another student or getting a great score. They could also have to pay rent to use certain things in the classroom like borrowing a pencil or using something that they forgot to bring. There are so many ways to add to this economy and I think students would love to use their money to buy fun items.
