Although I am no longer teaching, I sub and have 4 children that are becoming curious about finances! I think it is important to teach all young people the importance of starting your credit history early and being responsible. It truly can affect the rest of your life and how much you pay for things, so this information should be interesting to them. Not charging your credit cards to the max, checking your credit scores, not closing old accounts, and PAYING YOUR BILLS ON TIME!!! All of these are important for youth to understand. My young ones are just learning that credit cards are free, but if you don't pay them off each month, it costs you more money. At the same time, paying them off every month can give you excellent credit! It's a great lesson for minds that are starting to wonder about and earn money!
