Gmail in the Classroom

There are lots of things to do with GMAIL.  As others have commented, a teacher can make groups to email a while class at once, which is useful.  For me, that’s a function that I can get other places - for instance, I can ask PowerSchool and Canvas to email a class for me.

My problem is getting students to read the emails I send them  GMAIL can add filters, and the filters can be added pretty easily.  I think I’ll have my students put in a filter for my emails so that they are starred and marked as important and moved to a folder they create for class emails.  While this won’t ensure they read them, it should at least make them stand out more.
