Gmail in the Classroom

Cassie Bultsma
I would create a parent group in my Gmail account.  Under this group, I would upload my weekly newsletters, monthly calendars, send out reminders about important events (ex. conferences).  To help provide extra support at home for my students, I could send parents extra academic work to help each student's progress improve in the classroom in different core areas.

In addition, I think it would be a great asset to my classroom to speak to parents, in which English may not be their first language.  I would use the translation tool under Google Labs to help better communicate with these parents.  It would also be interesting to see if I could contact schools from a different countries and the translation tool, my students and I could ask questions or maybe set up a video conference through Gmail.

Gmail has a lot more to offer than simply sending messages!  It is great to see how Gmail can improve classroom instruction and learning.
