Gmail in the Classroom

Maryjo Nelson
I have used Contact Groups to create an easy way to contact parents each year. I love this option when compared with the typical paper copy newsletter. This way I can ensure that all parents receive the messages and they don't get "lost in transit". Also, using labels is a great way to keep emails organized especially when they begin to flood your inbox during the school year!

In my district students are not offered access to their Gmail accounts until the second half of 6th grade. Therefore I have not done much with students on Gmail. I prefer to use Google Classroom instead. I do like the chat feature so that students can get immediate responses and feedback though! I also like the idea of creating to-do lists with tasks. This would be a good way to keep track of where each student is!
