Gmail in the Classroom

Heidi
All of my students have Gmail accounts and passwords that are issued through the district. I currently teach students in the lower elementary, and have never used their gmail accounts for communication or organization of projects.  Technology is a huge part of their 21st century learning.  I plan to set up a group with my students and practice sharing information using Gmail. I will create a label for the class, and then create a filter for the incoming mail.  This will help keep my emails more organized.
I do use email frequently to communicate with parents and with other teachers.  Using these features will also help to better organize the massive amounts of emails daily. It also ensures that a digital record will be kept and filed neatly if needed. I also liked the task feature.  I plan to use this to help with my checklist, instead of the large amounts of sticky notes I am always placing on my computer.
