Gmail in the classroom/library

Tara Brooks
I have been using gmail for a couple of weeks to send out hold notices in the library.  This is working out wonderfully.  It is immediate, eliminates paper usage, and I am able to reach students who don't have a common study hall time.  In the past I had a difficult time getting a hold of students because if they had band and choir they were not in their homeroom.  The gmail method is much more efficient.

I also have sent the students a link to a reading interest survey via gmail.  So far this has been very successful.  It is giving me a very good understanding of what the students enjoy reading and how often they read outside of school.  I also plan on using this tool to drive my ebook purchasing.
