Gmail in the classroom

Megan Brown
As a full time classroom teacher it is important to stay organized and in contact with others.  The label feature seems like a good way to keep important e-mails from administrators, PLC group members, students, and parents organized.  Once they are organized I can access them easily and remove them from my inbox at the same time.  I would also like to send e-mails to students to remind them of upcoming tests or other classroom activities.  All of our students have g-mail accounts so I like to send reminders and organizing them into groups would be a good way to e-mail a whole class at once with a reminder.  I also utilize the Blind Copy feature on a regular basis.  Whenever I send messages to parents about student behavior or progress I blind copy the principal and/or any resource/special education teachers that might need to know the information.  That way the principal can see that I am in contact with the parent about the student and the parent doesn't see that others received the e-mail as well.
