Gmail in the classroom

Erin Gaul
As a mom of 4 and living in a school district that uses Gmail for all students and staff, I love that my kids have the capability of being able to talk to their teachers if they have questions.

For me, I would use gmail as a way to communicate with students regarding questions they may have over an assignment or if they were gone for a day I would use it as a way to let them know what they missed and ways they can be working on make up work.  It would be helpful to be able to set up groups and send out instructions to students working on different projects that way they have a tool to turn back to and everyone has the same availability to see what is expected of them for the project.

Being able to send a quick chat to a teacher in another room about a question I may have would be great that way I am not leaving students alone in the classroom to go ask.

Also, I can use gmail to communicate with parents about concerns I may have for their child or give them progress reports throughout the school year.

It is a fast easy way to be able to communicate when it is convenient for me.
