Lots of good ideas!
I have used gmail for the students to compose a message and do their spelling homework. They can type their words so many times or use them in sentences.
I have also used gmail for my weekly Friday notes sent home so we don't have to use paper. Parents respond much quicker via email.
Overall, it's a great communication tool which most people have said, and it's definitely something that needs to be a part of their education.
