Google 101-Gmail In the Classroom

Holly Baird
I have found a variety of ways to use Gmail in my classroom.  It  is an easy and systematic way for me stay stay in touch with students, parents and colleagues.  In addition, I love how I can use the Labels in Gmail for easy retrieval and reference at later dates.  I have discovered how to choose and attach automatic labels (which is a time saver, rather than having to add them every time) to both incoming and outgoing mail based on the content, sender, and the conditions that I choose.  As a coordinator of a Special Education Department, this allows me to stay organized and keep important information stored efficiently. I also appreciate the fact that Google Calendar works in line with the email and calendar.  I can schedule a meeting, send out invites, add attachments and agendas, and even collaborate and send reminders all with one click. Using this feature with students will be a nice way to communicate and keep them informed of upcoming assignments and resources.  Holly Baird
