I work in a guided study hall setting. I use Google Drive to have students set up a doc to be shared weekly with me. They include current grade with percentage, any missing work or test and quizzes they have coming up. We also work with students taking online classes. We encourage the students that do any writing for the online class to us docs so that their work is being saved as they go.
