At this time, our district does not use Google Hangouts as a form of video communications. However, if applicable, using Google Hangouts would be beneficiary when conducting online school, for those days we are unable to attend school d/t weather, etc..
Personally, I have used Google Hangout with family and friends that are living on the East Coast. I have seen people use Google Hangout, while on a cruise, instead of using their cellular phone plan. Google Hangouts is a great tool and easy to access.
