Inappropriate Use Digital Media

Paula Scott
My brother in law posted on Easter Sunday how mad he was that no one from his family showed up for his granddaughter’s bridal shower.  People started posting how sad it was that with such a big family, how disappointing it was no one showed up.  One post said, “They should be ashamed at themselves.”  That post made his sisters mad.  They started posting about how it was a holiday weekend and most were out of town with their own families.  One sister posted, “Really, you posted this on Facebook, who does that!”  Understand that the people involved are in their 50’s, 60, and 70,s.  He took it down.  “Airing one’s laundry” should not be done on Facebook, he could have sent the family an email expressing his disappointment or realized that having a bridal shower on a holiday weekend was not a good idea.  I personally read all the posts and decided not to comment.  Didn’t want to add more fuel to the fire, but my husband got an ear full.

Reading your posting brought back memories of the time my brother did the same thing and this was thankfully before Facebook and done by email but it went to 5 of us.  These are words that he can never take back and he did it when he was angry.
