Inappropriate Use of Digital Media

In a school near ours, a gun violence threat was posted on social media by a student.  Other students, then shared the post and all schools in the district had to be shut down for a day.  While the threat turned out to not be serious, the use of social media and the reposting of the original post turned the initial threat into a much bigger deal and it affected many more people than it would have without the use of social media.

This gives even more power to social media allowing irrational fears take hold.
