It seems that Facebook, SnapChat, Twitter, and Instagram have lost their focus. When I originally signed up for a FB account it was to stay connected to family and close friends who I don't see often or have a chance to talk to. Now I am constantly receiving friend requests and see rude posts, advertisements, suggested posts every minute. I feel that I am constantly un-following threads to keep the negative things out.
As a teacher and tech coach I sometimes deal with inappropriate use daily if not weekly and a lot of times one little post can lead to a full blown situation. We need to constantly ask ourselves and remind our students to ask themselves is it relevant, is it appropriate, is it necessary, is it nice, how would it make you feel.
