Inappropriate Use of Digital Media

I think most people who use social media sites such as Facebook have seen inappropriate use of media. I often see parents posting pictures or stories that would embarrass their children. I think we should be very careful when we post, making sure if they were our age that they would be okay with us sharing these stories/images.

I have seen inappropriate pictures when I perform a Google search, even using the strict search filter. I have seen the same thing happen for my students. This is why I believe we should restrict access to educational sites such as the Iowa AEA site.

I have also had to have a lot of conversations with my students about copyright, but I was not always as diligent in making sure their images were open for public distribution as I should have been. It is important to make sure we check the copyright permission on images before using them. I am also not as clear as I should be about permissions for schools specifically, and need to do additional research about this.
