Inappropriate Use of Social Media

I have joined the social media phenomena in the last couple of years, and I am amazed at the amount of teachers who are 'friends' or who have connections with students through these resources.  While there is nothing overtly wrong with this, I believe it opens a whole new world of danger for teachers and students alike.  When I joined social media, I decided for my own safety that I would never contact students through social media unless it was through a school sanctioned, district approved portal that was safe for teacher and student alike.
