Inappropriate Use

Amy BrownLuke
I hear almost weekly how students have shared things inappropriately or bullied online.  It has huge affects on those that are the target and can be dire consequences for those who do it.  We always try to teach kids to think before they speak to possibly realize the consequences of what they are doing.  Maybe it's now time to teach that concept and apply it to the digital world.
I also have had former students who upon graduation from college have had to try and clean up their digital footprint because it is affecting their job chances and they are regretting what they posted.

I was sent an email that was meant for another colleague.  This caused a friendship to end and a very hostile work environment.

You make an excellent point on social media accounts. It might be fun to post all the parties and good time one had at college, or in your personal life.  The first thing employers do is look at your digital profiles.  Students need to be taught what is posted on social media, stays on social media.
