Inappropriate Use

Deb Musfeldt
Students get sucked into responding to others when one student bashes another.  I have dealt with girls calling each other horrible things on snapchat, facebook etc.  Even though they may be upset about what one says, they respond negatively also.  I preach to them to NOT respond. The urge to say something back is so hard for them.

Deb, I think it is soooo much easier for people (kids) to say things on social media that they would never say to someone in person.  They need to stop and use that as their guide--would I really say this if that person was standing right in front of me?  Would I really say that to them out loud?

This concept upsets me so much.  It feels like social media is a highway that allows hate and mean attitudes to flourish.  It scares me that this is how society now communicates and so much is lost in the translation.

I agree.  There is so much hate freely expressed via social media.  There is always someone that has to comment negatively.
