Inappropriate Use

Nancy Hewlett
I worked with a student who was using a cell phone. He was texted a friend and he thought his messages were ok and the person getting the messages read into it entirely differently. We had to explain that just because you meant it your way, it was read by the other person in a different meaning. It caused a lot of problems between the two of them so we sat down and talked about how text messages can really get messed up. He decided to talk face to face with his friend and got things straightened out. We try to remind our students to be careful how you say things.

Re: Inappropriate Use

Cell phones can cause pain and suffering in a school environment. At my school, the teacher have the students put their cell phones in a sleeve until after class when they can pick them up. Before we had problems, chaos, and misunderstandings of the appropriate use of a cell phone.
