Inappropriate use Digital Media

Diane Aitchison
I rarely use Facebook.  I don't spend too much time on the internet, so I must say I haven't encountered this yet.  I do know from work that while writing an email, for example, it is very important to check your vocabulary and make sure your words will be taken correctly.  I think writing is very powerful and can make or break communication if not done carefully.

A good point as sometimes people misunderstand your intent when they may not know you well and your passing along information in an indirect manner.  I had not considered that .

It is very hard in an email or chat to know what people are joking because you don't have the advantage of seeing their facial expression as they are writing the post. You might include the acronyms (LOL, JK, etc) but I believe these are being overused to protect themselves when they really are not being funny. When you converse over the phone, you can understand the tone of their voice and know when they are/are not being serious.
