Inappropriate use of email

Samantha Fitchhorn
As our school went one to one with chromebooks just two years ago, the elementary classrooms were given individual emails.  I had an encounter with students sharing emails, attaching emojis and sharing brief comments.  A young boy, 3rd grade, sent a girl classmate an emoji with kiss lips with no text.  A reply was given "really?" with a couple emojis.  Upon the shortest shared emails following; another young girl, friend, got involved, shared it with the teacher and it appeared that the young boy was sexually harassing the other girl.  With so little text and very few emojis this situation was brought to administration and parents.  The 3rd grade boy got disciplined, loss of email sharing the rest of the school year and no technology learning time.
