Internet Safety

Katie Greving
I recently saw someone who uses a classroom Facebook page. I am planning on trying that next year! I will "friend" the parents of my students so they can see what we are doing in class. I will post pictures, spelling words, and update on what we are doing.

I have my own Facebook account and I usually don't friend parents of my students unless I am friends with them outside of school. I never accept friend requests from students. So a classroom page would be nice!

This is a really good idea. I have seen several teachers that have started doing this, and it seems like a pretty successful tool for them. It is a lot quicker to look at this page than logging into Classroom or going to our teacher websites. I look forward to seeing your page! :)

That's a good idea.  What a neat way for parents to stay in contact with the classroom's activities.

I have seen this used in other schools and it has been very popular!  The parents are on Facebook anyway, so it is not "another thing" they have to do, sign up for, look at, etc.

I have a classroom facebook page where I post lots of pictures of kids with their projects.  I know this is one way I can quickly communicate with parents.  I guess I could use facebook more and just post ideas and thoughts about our lesson.

Katie,
When you do this, do you think there are any snags, privacy issues with using a FB page for the classroom?  I do want to do this too so I can post my videos in music, since videos don't post on Weebly.
