Internet Safety

Jean ferneding
I signed up for an account on Face book today.  I don't plan to spend much time on it as I think I could get addicted to it.  I have a friend that emails me info that my children post when she thinks it is something I would like to see.  That has made me interested in joining.  I do want to see pictures from relatives as that seems to be the way the younger generation communicates.  I made the settings as secure as possible by choosing friends and not public.  Now if I can just remember to check the settings once in awhile.

Facebook can be addicting.  I find myself checking it almost daily.  However, if I can keep myself to simply do a quick glance it seems to help me step away.  It is a great way to keep up with happenings with friends/family.  I have also found that many of the organizations that my kids are involved in have a Facebook page that posts information that is helpful.

I do not have a Facebook account.  I agree that it might become addicting, but I am also concerned about giving away personal information in unintended ways.  So many of my friends are on it, though, I feel like I a out of the loop to not be on it.  I wish I felt more secure in setting up an account and using it.
