I do have a FB account. I have a Twitter account, but never post. I use Twitter more to get updates on school events for my own children.
I do not accept requests from students-past or present-until they have graduated. I sometimes get a friend request from a parent of a student. If I don't want to accept it I just don't reply one way or the other.
My rule of thumb is that if I wouldn't want my own parents to see or read it-then I shouldn't post it. I tell my own children this often. "Would you be proud enough of what you wrote, posted, or liked for Grandma to read it? If not do not do it!
