Personal accounts can be tricky on social media. They are great ways to share information with friends and extended family. However, there are things that I was not aware of as I looked through some of the privacy settings. While many things that are shared on social media can have a positive effect, it is important to share some of these issues with students. As a teacher of high school juniors and seniors, I find myself discussing the benefits and perils of social media frequently. Particularly with seniors, who may be living on their own a year after I teach them, teaching them how to handle situations online appropriate is an important skill.
