I have had a Facebook account since my children helped me set it up years ago. (Of course, they were much quicker with the setup!) My settings are private of the most part. I do not accept students as friends while they are still in school. I am selective about the photos I post.
I have seen other staff members post pics I think maybe shouldn't be online.
When I was involved in a long-term substitute teaching position, the grade team teachers set up a Facebook page for their grade. It was adjusted when they found links to their personal pages. I talked them through this because they had not set it up the way they had intended its use.
Many schools and school organizations now have Facebook pages. I have seen many of these used in positive ways.
